LGBTQIA and Judaism - Zoom Class

What is the history of Judaism and LGBTQIA? What are the harmful verses or interpretations within Jewish texts and how can we (and have we) corrected them? How have so many streams of Judaism adapted to respond to modernity and welcomed LGBTQIA, permitted same-sex weddings/marriages, and ordained LGBTQIA rabbis? How do we fight against Biblical literalism and historical distance?

This course will go over how adult learners can learn about biblical and rabbinic views of homosexuality and transgender, along with responses from modernity!

In this Session We will introduce :

  1. Sodom and Leviticus

  2. Creation

  3. Biblical Marriage concepts

  4. Rabbinic notions of multiple genders
